Outreach and External Relations Cell (OERC)

Key Objectives and Functions

The OERC is committed to advancing the following key objectives:

1. Building Strategic Partnerships:

The Cell actively seeks to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders. These partnerships facilitate knowledge exchange, resource sharing, and collaborative projects that contribute to NLU Meg’s academic and research goals.

2. Enhancing Institutional Visibility:

Through its outreach efforts, the OERC raises awareness of NLU Meg’s programmes, research initiatives, and contributions to the legal field. This heightened visibility attracts prospective students, researchers, and collaborators, bolstering the University’s reputation.

3. Promoting Academic Exchange:

The OERC facilitates academic exchange programmes, inviting scholars and practitioners from around the world to engage with NLU Meg’s faculty and students. These exchanges enrich the learning environment, expose students to diverse perspectives, and foster cross-cultural understanding.

4. Supporting Community Engagement:

The Cell actively seeks opportunities for NLU Meg to contribute to the local community and address regional challenges. Through pro bono legal services, workshops, and awareness campaigns, NLU Meg demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility.

The OERC’s work aligns with NLUM’s core thrust areas, including:

1. Access to Justice:

The Cell prioritises collaborations that promote access to justice for marginalised and underserved communities. This includes projects focused on legal aid, legal literacy, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

2. Environmental Law and Sustainability:

Recognising the importance of environmental protection, the OERC partners with organisations working on environmental law, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

3. Human Rights and Social Justice:

The Cell actively supports initiatives that promote human rights, gender equality, and social justice. This encompasses projects addressing issues such as child rights, disability rights, and anti-discrimination.

4. Corporate Law and Governance:

The OERC engages with corporate entities and regulatory bodies to foster ethical business practices, good governance, and corporate social responsibility.
